De eerste film gaat over olievoorraden versus de verschuivende macht. Een van de grootste olievoorraden ter wereld bevindt zich in centraal-Azië. Een aantal internationale oliemaatschappijen heeft zich reeds in Azerbeidjan gevestigd. De volgende reportage geeft een beeld van de verschillende soorten burgeroorlogen die op aarde voorkomen. Voor conflicten die door internationale vredesmachten niet op te lossen zijn, worden steeds vaker huurlingen aangetrokken. <br /> <br /> Hierna volgt een film die ingaat op de ontwikkelingen binnen de Nederlandse politiek in het kader van de naderende verkiezingen. In 1998 zal worden begonnen met de bouw van een groot ruimtestation. Het wetenschappelijk nut van dit project is echter omstreden. Eind 1998 zullen elf Europese landen de Euro als uniforme munteenheid gaan invoeren.
