Daarna werkt hij als correspondent voor NOS-actualiteitenprogramma &#039;&#039;[[Panoramiek]]&#039;&#039; dat hij in 1972 omvormt tot de eerste aparte buitenlandrubriek op de Nederlandse televisie. <br /> <br /> Tijdens zijn periode bij de NOS krijgt hij bekendheid door verslaggeving van onder meer: de Apollo-projecten van de NASA, de Amerikaanse presidentsverkiezingen, de Vietnam-analyses, de Watergate-verhoren. Hij interviewt internationale politieke leiders, onder wie de Sjah van Iran, de presidenten Kennedy, Ford, Nixon en Carter, premier Bhutto van Pakistan, premier Indira Gandhi van India, premier Begin van Israël, president Sadat van Egypte, president Allende van Chili en vele andere vooraanstaande internationale politici. Tijdens de uitzendingen over de maanlanding van de Apollo in 1969 ontmaskert Hindriks, samen met Ben van Meerendonk (van de &#039;&#039;Haagse Courant&#039;&#039;) een fantast die zich uitgeeft voor een arts uit de medische staf van de NASA. <br /> <br /> Daarna is Hindriks hoofd van [[Eurikon]] en programmadirecteur van het tv-project [[Europa TV]]. In 1989 vertrekt Hindriks bij de NOS en gaat voor Foreign Media Affairs werken. <br /> <br /> In 2022 roept &#039;&#039;[[Aether Magazine]]&#039;&#039; een prijs in het leven vernoemd naar de &#039;nestor in buitenlandverslaggeving&#039;.
