Als vrijwilligster in het asielzoekerscentrum ontmoet ze Santana, een 17-jarige Angolese vluchteling. Geraakt door zijn verhaal besluit zij hem in haar huis en gezin op te nemen. Ze raakt aan hem gehecht en doet er alles aan om hem in Nederland te houden. <br /> <br /> Haar dochter vindt dat de langdurige aanwezigheid van Santana ten koste gaat van het gezin. “Je ziet hem als je zoon, maar voor je mij heb je geen tijd”, huilt ze. Toch vindt Margot niet dat ze kan stoppen.<br /> <br /> Samen met Santana wacht de familie in spanning de uitspraak van de rechter af. Het gezin bespreekt wat de opties zijn, mocht Santana uitgewezen worden. Eén van de opties is om hem illegaal onderdak te bieden op hun zolder.<br /> <br /> Santana krijgt de uitspraak van de rechter. Hij moet het land uit. De hele familie Brons is aangeslagen en reageert emotioneel.
